Minnesota DSA members and supporters issue a call to action

Proposal for Solidarity with people of Europe and the Put People First March for Jobs, Justice and Climate for March 28, 2009.

Whereas the working people who did not create the current recession and are paying a high price through lost jobs and housing foreclosures, the Democratic Socialists of America calls on world leaders attending the G20 Summit in April 2009 to take decisive action to tackle the global recession and ensure that the world emerges a fairer and more sustainable place for working people an their families.

In solidarity with the Put People First March in Europe on March 28, 2009, the Minnesota Democratic Socialists of America calls on the National DSA to take immediate action and engage with union, faith and green groups to put on a USA Put People First March for Jobs, Justice and Climate for March 28, 2009.

We call on the national DSA to send a letter of support to the British Trades Union Congress for their efforts in organizing the Put People First March for Jobs, Justice and Climate.

Organizations backing the march include the TUC, Oxfam, Friends of the Earth, Action Aid, Stop Climate Chaos, Save the Children, WWF, CAFOD, Christian Aid, Salvation Army, Tearfund, War on Want, World Vision, Methodist Relief and Development Fund, Trade Justice Movement, Muslim Council of Britain and Jubilee Debt Campaign.

Free market fundamentalism has given mega-bonuses to the super-rich and destroyed jobs and communities for ordinary people. We DEMAND action for a better world based on justice for all and sustainable jobs and a clean climate.
